ACE (Access Certificate in ELT) - International (No. 8575 )

ACE is an initial teaching qualification in English Language Teaching (ELT), developed jointly with the University of Manchester. It's ideal for those starting their career in ELT who need a recognised qualification to help them progress. It's also suitable for experienced English language teachers wishing to upgrade their skills and qualifications, or professional teachers wishing to move into ELT. It's highly recommended for schools who wish to formalise their in-house teacher training programme and offer their trainees an internationally recognised qualification.

ACE is highly flexible. It can be taught full time or part time, and by a choice of training methods, including distance learning.

ACE consists of two modules:

Foundations of English Language Teaching (FELT) requires about 100 hours of study and is assessed by a multiple choice test.

Supervised Teaching Practice (STP), requiring about 50 hours, is assessed by observation of classroom teaching and by a portfolio of written work.

Support materials

We supply ACE centres with a set of 11 self instruction booklets to support the FELT module and with a video showing teachers in action, to use for standardisation and training.
